The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) achieved certification from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for their State Safety Oversight (SSO) program on September 24th. MoDOT’s SSO program oversees the Kansas City Streetcar Authority streetcar system and the Loop Trolley Transportation Development District trolley system.  MoDOT is also jointly responsible with the Illinois Department of Transportation for providing safety oversight of the Bi-State Development Agency St. Louis Metro light rail system. TRA assisted MoDOT in their efforts to achieve certification, and continues to support the SSO program through regular on-site audits, document review, and day-to-day programmatic activities.
