How did you begin working at TRA? Who was your first client?
I began working for TRA in June of 2018 after graduating from Temple University with a M.S. in City and Regional Planning. My first client was the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s State Safety Oversight program, the Rail Transit Safety Review Program (RTSRP). Working for the RTSRP, I quickly became immersed in the world of accident and incident oversight; today, I serve as the program’s Accident/Incident Coordinator.
What do you like most about your job?
I most enjoy the opportunities I have to interact with people at the top of their craft, whether that be policy development or vehicle maintenance. I have always been fascinated by public transportation, and learning the multitude of jobs associated with providing safe, equitable, and reliable transportation is something that I will never grow tired of.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
During high school, I was a volunteer EMT/Firefighter for my local fire department.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
Most of my spare time revolves around bicycling and cooking. My ideal day involves a bike ride that ends with stops at a few markets to gather supplies so that I can prepare a meal for family and/or friends (multi-modal bonus points if the ride begins or ends with a train trip!).
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I have always wanted to travel to Vietnam. In addition to my desire to taste the country’s varied regional cuisines, I would love to travel via the North-South railway to experience what I understand are some breathtaking views from the rails.
