How did you begin working at TRA? Who was your first client?
Like many who’ve joined our team, I didn’t realize this line of work was an option until I saw a job posting coming out of graduate school. My first project was to help one of our Vice Presidents develop a new rules compliance program for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transportation Authority. It was exciting to quickly dive into hands-on work and begin developing an area of expertise.
What do you like most about your job?
I love the variety that every week brings! The unexpected requests can be just as fun to execute as comprehensively planned work. Even though I might be committing most of my time to a different transit agency nearly every week, I always have my regular clients in mind.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I redesigned an intersection to improve line of sight when I was 10 years old – and it actually got constructed!
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
Lately I’m catching up on 250+ episodes of Frasier, since I didn’t appreciate the show when it was on in the ‘90s and I was apparently busy listening to alternative rock. I guess my sense of humor matured. I don’t watch a ton of television though, and I like to explore the changing neighborhoods at home in Philadelphia and in other cities when I travel.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I’d like to take some of the activities I occasionally travel for in the U.S. and do them in a totally different setting abroad – neighborhood exploring in Amsterdam, hiking in Patagonia, skiing in the Alps, and pizza expeditions in Sicily.
