TRA conducted a comprehensive study of BART maintenance and engineering programs to support various capital projects. The study sought to address the current state of traction power, track, signals, structures, train control systems, and system safety and issue recommendations that accompany BART’s capital programs of service expansion and fleet renewal.
TRA developed recommendations for BART to better communicate the criticality of performing system maintenance and renewal in order to preserve the long-term safety and reliability of its entire transit network. TRA’s work with BART included creating specific recommendations for capital project improvements and their overall costs, as well as detailed options for implementing these improvements with maximum ROI and minimal disruption to customers.
