TRA was the prime contractor to the RTA for its oversight efforts of the CTA rail system from 2004 - 2016, with additional program support since 1998. Subject matter expertise for RTA includes all areas of system safety, operations, maintenance, security, and emergency preparedness as well as support regarding SSO practices and policies.
The TRA team has completed four comprehensive, on-site Three-Year Safety and Security Reviews of the CTA, most recently in 2014. TRA has also conducted special audits, such as an evaluation of tunnel fans and fire/life safety procedures and apparatus in 2013, and roadway worker protection in 2014. TRA provides ongoing technical assistance by developing program standards and procedures, evaluating Corrective Action Plans, and other tasks as requested. Additionally, TRA supported RTA during the 2007 and 2010 FTA SSO audits of RTA.
